SURF STORY is a book,exhibition,film including art and surf stories by more than 70 surfers, artists, writers, icons from the culture.

Robb Havassy, fellow Surf Artist is organizing this huge project and contacted me two years ago to be involved.

The book and exhibition will feature the largest collection of surf art and surf stories ever presented. Echo Movement

Jay’s new painting, “Burning Inspiration” as you can see, became the Album Art for “In the Ocean”, which was inspired by the beach lifestyle that Jay and his friends in the Band love so much.

June 5th’s party is going to be awesome and I’ll be there to show art, sell prints and support my friends in the band. 

A Portion of proceeds of all sales of Echo Movement’s New CD’s is going to help SurfAid International.

This gorgeous Surfboard features my painting,“Left Behind the Wall”which I painted with this board shape specifcally in mind.

It is glassed by the world famous, Clyde Beatty Jr. and it’s a beauty you can appreciate even more up close.

A portion of the proceeds from every surfboard sold goes to one of my favorite charities SurfAid International.

Surf Aid is a non-profit humanitarian organization that seeks to
improve the health, well being and self-reliance of people living in
isolated regions connected to us through surfing.

I recently met up with Wes Negus, Co-Founder of 9:Fish Surfboards while I was in Malibu (seen here with the new Jay Alders 9:Fish Surfboard.)

It’s really insane what a great job 9:Fish did in creating this board, when I first saw them in person, I wasn’t expecting it to be so masterfully done.

I now have one board I display and one I ride and love the feel of this board in the water, it’s super easy to paddle and catches everything.

This Thursday, April 9th 2009, at 6PM, I will be showing and sellingSurf Art and donating a print to benefit The Surfrider Foundation.

The event will take place at the historic Algonquin Theater in beautifulManasquan, NJ.Musical performance by local surfer/musician,Quincy Mumford and a showing of Chris Malloy‘s Surf Film, “One Track Mind”.

Jake is considered the Eddie Van Halen of the Ukulele and has toured with Music Legends like Jack Johnson, Donavon Frankenreiter, Jimmy Buffet and is being featured in Dana Brown’s new Surf Film.

Proceeds for the Art Auction are going to: Santa Cruz Surfing Museum, Santa Cruz SPCA, Save the Waves, SurfAid International, Rell Sunn Foundation, San Onofre Foundation, Surfing Heritage Foundation and the
San Onofre Hawaiian Surfing Club.
