I just finished painting the front wall of the future location of Iron Buddha, a new yoga and fitness location in Westwood, New Jersey. The clients, whom I adore, wanted their Buddha logo which I also designed as the center piece of the wall. Of course, the township had something to say about putting street art on the main road. They only let us use gray and white and said “no words, no specific objects”.
So on each side, we decided to do freestyle, graffiti style shapes, and swirls. With the rules in place, I put on my paint respirator and grabbed a lot of spray cans and started spraying.
This was the biggest mural I’d done so far and my first go at spray cans on this magnitude. I messed around with spray paint when I was exhibiting in Bordeaux, France…but nothing this big. I gotta say, it was a lot of fun! All those decades of airbrushing since my teen years really paid off.
Overall, I’m really happy with it and so are the clients. I’m genuinely excited to get started on my next mural. Any ideas or suggestions? Leave me some comments!
