What is a Museum Quality Print or Giclée?

Giclée , commonly pronounced “jhee-clay,” are a an archival, high-quality, fine art print on canvas or fine art paper using ink-jet and digital methods. Giclée/Archival prints use inks which are tested to last over 150-200 years and are printed on acid-free surfaces.

Our French speaking customers may giggle when hearing the word Giclée, since it’s a rather naughty slang, so we prefer calling our Archival Prints “Museum Quality Prints”.

Whatever you call them, these Archival prints are the best quality prints with the longest longevity. Therefore their collectibility and investment value is higher than mass produced non-archival prints.

Can you tell me more about the Canvas prints? Are they Gallery Wrapped?

Our Canvas Reproductions are the highest quality Giclée prints available. We use top quality Archval Fine Art Canvas to ensure that you will own a piece of art that will last a lifetime.
They are personally inspected by our studio experts for approval of color and print quality.

Once the prints are created, they are set to dry fully and then varnished with several coats of a professional UV inhibitor and protective clear coating.
Once dry, the Canvas Giclée Prints are Gallery Wrapped with colored edges coordinating with the colors of the Painting. Gallery Wrapped using 1 1/2 inch depth bars.

Gallery wrapped means that the canvas is stapled to the stretcher bars on the back of the painting, keeping the sides of the canvas neat and professional looking)
A Frame is not necessary with a Gallery Wrapped Canvas since all of the sides of the painting are clean and neat looking, but some people have a preference to frame it as an added touch for their Home or Office Decor.

What are Fine Art Prints on Paper?

Similar to the Canvas Reproductions, our Archival Museum Quality Prints on Fine Art Paper are personally inspected by our studio experts for color accuracy and print quality.
We use the most superb Archival Fine Art Cotton Rag papers. These are Acid-Free and Archival which will last longer than a lifetime.

You will need to frame your Fine Art Archival prints on paper in order to display them. They will arrive safely wrapped and rolled up in a shipping tube.

Note: These are not “posters”. These are a much higher quality print with acid-free archival materials which are fade resistant. The Cotton rag paper is thicker stock with  light texture.

What is this Embellishing Option I see for Canvas Prints?

This creates a very durable protective semi-gloss surface, deepens the richness of colors and gives the surface of the print a textured brushwork similar to an original painting. When a print is Embellished, most people think the piece is an original!

This Embellishment option is only available for Canvas Reproductions.

I don't know what to choose. Can you help?

Your orders are very important to us, so we strive to get your prints and merchandise out as quickly as possible.

  • We ship once a week, usually mid week. (We’re a family-run business and this keeps us sane and happy)
  • If you have a huge rush or special event and tight deadlines or low patience thresholds, please contact us before ordering.

Museum Quality Prints (Canvas and Fine Art Prints on Paper): It may take an average 7-18 business days to produce, dry & prepare before shipping occurs.

From our Distributor: Some items such as Phone case, beach towels, throw blankets, mugs, some posters, and much of our apparel will be shipped from our distributor. Times for arrival may vary depending on their schedule and shipping providers. From experience we see those items taking 7-14 days on average but sometimes this may go up to 21+ days for arrival if they are backed up.

Please note: Express or Rush Delivery Option only refers to the time it takes from our door to your door when the print is ready to ship. This does NOT mean that your custom printed order will arrive to you within 2-3 days of actual ordering time.

International customers may experience delays due to your country’s customs and security policies. This is completely out of our control. With some countries, this adds 10-30 days but other countries like Brazil have much longer customs delays. Some countries like in the UK, Australia, Canada, and western Europe have almost no customs delay, but we can’t predict what your country will do.

What is a Matted Print?

Our matted prints are a full-color art reproduction on semi-gloss paper that is mounted in a custom-cut white mat.

Think of a mat as a white cardboard with an opening that the art shows through. This allows some space between the art and the edge of the art. Most people will frame the matted print and this white mat gives a nice look and makes for easy decorating.

Our matted prints are standard size (usually 11×14 inches in outside dimension) and thus finding a frame is easy and low cost.

These prints are beautiful and make a great low-cost gift, or way to decorate or display art in your home.

Note: Matted prints are not archival nor limited edition nor signed (unless otherwise noted) but still really nice.

If you’re looking for a higher quality Giclée, you can find those in our Museum Quality Print section in our Shop menu. Our Museum Quality Prints  are available in Canvas and Archival Paper Prints. The paper Museum Quality Prints can be mounted in a mat and or frame as well, ask before ordering if you’d like that option.

What is a Limited Edition Print and why are they more valuable ?

Your print will arrive to you hand numbered and signed by the Artist and your name and limited edition purchase will be documented in our records. Museum Quality Prints on paper will have an embossed logo authenticity seal.

Historically, the value limited edition prints will rise dramatically as they become less available and are sold out.

When I calculated shipping costs, it was more money than I thought. Can you help?

When ordering Canvas Giclées – Shipping costs go up dramatically with larger canvas prints because of their size. So one option is ordering a slightly smaller size.

Also, what many customers like to do is have the canvas print shipped unassembled. You can inexpensively have a local framer or artist stretch your new canvas print once you receive it. This will allow us to ship it in a tube or smaller box and shipping will be much cheaper. If you wish to do this option, contact us.

Multiple items (especially canvases):  If you are ordering more than one canvas print, shipping weight will be affected and make the shipping cost go up. Please contact us if you need help shipping more than one canvas. We can send them unassembled in a tube and make your shipping costs much lower.

Smaller items – USPS is the best option for lower costs. When items get too large, they no longer will ship overseas and UPS is then the only option which costs much more.

Shipping Fine Art Giclée Paper Prints – This is a much less expensive way of getting art since they are lighter and shipped in tubes instead of boxes. You will have to have the print framed to display. So keep that in mind. Canvas prints are ready to hang.

Do you ship to my country?

We ship to almost all developed countries around the world. Please add items to your cart and proceed to checkout. If there’s a problem, let us know.  For instance: Canada, Australia, Brazil, Europe, South Africa or Japan for instance…No problem.

There’s a very few exceptions…Due to some countries being very difficult to get items to or too many fraudulent issues in the past, there are some countries that we can’t ship to. We are sorry if this inconveniences you in anyway.

My order was sent outside of the United States and it's not here yet. Can you help me find it?

Once your item ships, you’ll receive a tracking number via email. Please look for that and check your spam folders too to make sure it’s not in there.

Once you have your tracking number, you have all the information that we have access to. You can track it online. We don’t have any further information.

Please note: Many countries have customs and inspections processes that slow things down as much as 15-30 days or more. If this is the case, you may see that your package left the U.S. and there is a delay to arriving to you. That’s probably due to someone inspecting your order.

Example: A lot of countries are very quick. Bravo to Canada, the UK and Australia for instance for not slowing down things. But our friends in Brazil for instance may see 15-60 days go by while you wait for your country to process and inspect everything. We have even seen longer delays.

After a package is shipped from our studio we have no control over how long it takes to get through customs. We wish we could prevent this but it’s completely out of our control and also rather typical. Once it passes customs, it will arrive to you…Please be patient.

If you’re still concerned, please contact us.

Random stuff gone wrong. Help!

My order didn't go through but I see a charge on my credit card. What's the deal?

When you attempt to place an order with an online merchant such as us, sometimes your bank or credit card will put a “temporary hold” on the funds you were going to pay with.
If your order didn’t process but you see money coming out of your online statement, give it a day or two and the ‘temporary hold’ will release and the funds will go back into your account. This is done by your credit card/bank, not us.

My order arrived damaged. What do I do now?

We have a lot of pride and take many measures to keep your order safe. That said, sometimes during transit damage can rarely occur.

If the box or tube that your item was shipped in is noticeably damaged please keep all packing materials and send us photos so we can file a damage claim immediately. We must file the claim within 14 days of receiving the order. This is a generally easy process, so don’t stress. Also, we’re here to help.

We’ll handle the claim and get you a replacement.

We are not responsible for any damages that are caused by mishandling though. So please be careful when unpacking and handling your art.

Get an error during check out? Or your card is not processing properly?

Decline or Card issue: Once in a while, a credit card won’t process or will decline. You may see an error or it might not check out. This is a bummer. But it’s easy to fix.

Most of the time, is because your address doesn’t match your Card Holder Information on file. Maybe you moved and didn’t update your credit card records? Maybe you mis-spelled something or used an abbreviation?

As a security measure, if the address is misspelled or slightly different from what your Credit Card Company has on file, our fraud filters will decline the transaction to protect you.

You should check your Credit Card Bill and verify that everything is up to date and accurate. Try using different credit card or payment method. Or choose Amazon Pay or PayPal which will bypass our fraud filters and use theirs instead. Sometimes clearing your browser cache helps before doing this.

Error on site: If you notice an error when ordering, try to refresh browser or try a different browser. If this doesn’t help, please email us so we can correct the issue.

If this doesn’t help and you have some issue with placing an order, please contact us, we’ll be happy to help and would appreciate knowing of any issue.
