This surfing painting which was first conceived when Jay was asked to paint an original piece of art for the Fosters Belmar Pro 2010 limited Edition Poster. Having spent much of the summer of 2010 away on art tours, Alders craved some time at home to just paint, surf and enjoy beach culture. Thus “Home Slice” became representative of a late summer homecoming. Immediately Jay thought of the rock jetties and greenish-blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean that he spends so much of his time surfing in. This piece really shows the artist's love of geometric and abstracted form. The painterly brushstrokes and impressionistic color palette are a different approach than we are used to from Alders, yet it is still very much in his unique style. The surfer becomes one with the ocean wave as his hand seemlessly creates the breaking wave. The repetitive patterns in the sky and wave face add a graphic design element to this painting which makes it both soothing and exhilarating. No matter how much we travel, there's no place like home.

Jay’s art captures that feeling that all of us surfer’s know, but can never quite put into words… He is a true master of his craft and I feel honored to own one of his paintings. Home Slice is an absolutely amazing piece!!! When I first received it in the mail it had been damaged a bit in the shipping process by the delivery company. (Which was no fault of Jay’s at all) As soon as I let him know, he immediately replaced it and also sent me two autographed poster prints for FREE to make up for it. This was totally unexpected and just speaks volumes to the type of guy he is. My replacement piece arrived in pristine condition, I framed the two autographed pieces and now my basement is decked out in Jay Alders surf art!!!!!!
I strongly recommend anyone who’s considering purchasing a piece of his art to do it. You will LOVE IT!

Just got the museum quality print of this. And while I loved the image of it online… I was uncertain about what “museum quality” would be like. But I bought it anyways cuz the art is so awesome. My package finally arrived, and I learned first hand that “museum quality” is very high quality paper and print. Not flat and glossy like a poster, but there’s slightly some texture to it… very premium feel. It actually over exceeded my expectations and I don’t feel bad about spending $400 on Jay’s stuff (I’ve never bought real art before so big step here). Excited to get this bad boy framed and up in my house!

I just had the canvasses stretched last week. They look really great on the wall. Jay was a gentleman to deal with thorughout and I appreciated his assistance throughout the transaction.

I bought this painting as a gift for my brother (who is a surfer) and he LOVED it! He just bought a new house and we gave it to him for his house warming gift. I couldn’t have been more pleased with my purchase! Jay Adler himself even emailed me and (despite my late order) made sure I was able to get the painting in time for the party! I will DEFINITELY be purchasing more of his work in the future! Thank you Jay!
