Burton LeBlanc is the head of the Makeup Department for the Emmy Award-winning show, The Handmaid’s Tale. This show is single-handedly responsible for me having no fingernails left and Burton is the main guy that is responsible for the blood, gore, bruises, wounds, and perfectly groomed beards.
Burton talks candidly not only about his current role (which is a dream position that took him decades to earn), but we dive much deeper into his outlook on creativity and inspiration.
Particularly fascinating is how he is able to compartmentalize his very intense work with some truly gory scenes to keep his real-life both mellow and spiritually balanced.
While Handmaid’s Tales fans won’t be let down by this behind the scenes perspective, Burton also talks more broadly about what it feels like to finally feel like he’s made it and how he stays grounded after being launched onto the red carpet with two Emmy Award nominations and winning the Hollywood Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist Award and being nominated for The Met Fashion Award.
