This painting was conceptualized as a sketch that Jay drew during a jam session while on tour in Brazil with Donavon Frankenreiter, G Love, Matt Costa and ALO for FestivalAlma 2007.
 “The most amazing Jam session ever”.
Between shows the crew gathered at a mutual friend’s home in the hills of Rio de Janeiro and what took place was called by some of the musician’s there as “The most amazing Jam session ever”.

“My friend & legendary surf photographer Sean Davey shot this footage (below) at the actual jam session. You can see me sketching what became “Rio Jam” in the corner.”
The painting “Rio Jam” began as a sketch and once arriving home in America, Alders knew he needed to get this moment captured in paint. For several months Jay stood at his easel at his beach town art studio and painted the scene from memory while listening to the music from the musicians who were there that night.
