On a last minute whim, we decided to drive out to Montauk, New York to spend a couple days with our friends who were performing at The Surf Lodge.
With an hour or two notice, I shot out some emails to friends on Long Island and to the local Surfrider Chapter to see if anyone knew of any open couches or floor space in Montauk. Â This attempt to avoid $400 a night hotels in the Hamptons proved successful when our friend Jay Fruin, Vice Chair of Surfrider Long Island Chapter was kind enough to offer up a place in his gorgeous picturesque home.
We got to the Surf Lodge just in time to catch our friends Donavon Frankenreiter and band perform. Â We grabbed some drinks and the party began.
After the show, we spent the rest of the evening on the tour bus. Â We got a sneak-listen to Donavon’s soon to be released new album and shared some laughs and great conversation with a bunch of really wonderful people.
The next day, we got up early and met everyone at the bus, packed up our surfboards and made our way to the beaches of Montauk. Â We had a really fun few hour surf together in some fun waves.
Big thanks goes to our friends Donavon, Matt, Eric, Craig, Pete, Tito and Mishka for the good times together.
