I am proud to share with you my newly finished oil painting, “Beaming with Abundance”. I started this piece right before our trip to Australia kind of on a whim. Well, here’s how this all came about…(insert storytelling music here)
Let me go back a few months…I was (and still am) working on another painting which I’ve been super stoked on. When I got to my studio, ready to paint, brushes in hand, I discovered that the other piece was still too wet to work on from the previous session. (For those of you whom have never oil painted, let me tell you…it’s quite a lesson in patience.) But I was determined and motivated to do some painting, I felt the creative juices flowing.
I remembered bringing in some newly made wood panels the day before, so I grabbed one and threw it up on the easel. Then comes the part that people ask me about most…‘What do I paint?‘… Hmm… ‘Artist block’ was not about to have it’s way with me this time and with a trip to Australia coming up soon, I had plenty of inspiration. So without one bit of sketching, pre-planning or hesitation, I just started painting like a mad-man.
The scene came to me like a rush of emotion. The warm sun rays engulfing a romantic couple on a beautiful & secluded beach. The surreal clouds swirling above the spiraling water masses below. The light skimming the surface of the ocean as a wave curled just off shore.
To make a long story short, my painting sessions were cut short with my journey across the globe and some freelance projects that have been hanging over my head. Nevertheless, upon returning and getting settled back in, I picked up my brushes again with my new Aussie memories fresh in my mind. Byron Bay, the sunsets, the private coves, the intrigue and romance and the overwhelming feelings of abundance & gratitude.
So, since then, amongst other things, I have been working to bring this spontaneous creation to life. I hope you like it 🙂
