This surf painting is inspired by one of my favorite spots on the Jersey Shore. The Inlet Beach in Manasquan which lies at the southern end of Monmouth County, New Jersey. The jetty in this scene is an icon to locals and surfers from around the world alike. Even Surfing legends like Andy Irons have flown in to enjoy the high-quality big waves that arrive here every fall.
I grew up surfing here and it’s still a favorite beach spot for my wife and I and our three children. I’ve been wanting to paint a legit tribute to this jetty for a while. It’s crept into a couple of other paintings but nothing this elaoborately done until now.
I started this painting in the early summer of 2019 and it was one of my background passionate projects over the summer.
Sunset here when the waves are pumping is magical. The locals stand at the gazebo that faces the ocean and walk along the big rocks to see the swell coming in. You can feel the waves smashing the jetty and the mist in the air. It’s one of my happy places for sure.
I am really excited to share this one with you. I have signed Limited Edition Archival prints available on Gallery Wrapped Canvas and 100% Cotton Rag Paper.
