Introducing the newest original surf art genre painting by fine artist Jay Alders, “Arrival By The Sea”. This colorful and surreal ocean surf painting first started out as a live painting on the beach of Belmar, New Jersey as the Foster’s Belmar Pro took place.
With no prior sketch or artistic plan in mind, Alders started painting while taking in the surfing and coastal scenes around him for inspiration.
From the Artist:
“We had just moved back to New Jersey a couple months prior to this surfing event. My wife Chelsea was 8 months pregnant and it felt great to be home and about to start a family here. Being back on the beaches of of my former home town of Belmar inspired me to paint the jetties and hollow waves that this break is known for this time of year. Rather than use any photo reference I decided to make a trippy spin on it straight from my imagination.
Upon leaving the beach, I didn’t quite have the piece at a stage that I was comfortable calling it completed. My vision for this painting I felt was worthy of more time in the studio to complete it.
My daughter Summer Emerson Alders was born the following month on 10/10/13. With limited free time as a new Dad, I worked on the painting until I felt that it communicated all it had to. Upon completion of the painting, I thought it appropriate to have my daughter inspire the title.”
